Feeding Whale Sharks

Three times a days, the whale sharks of the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium are fed whith several dozens of kilos of krill.

They adopt this vertical position to suck the water as the food is dropped in front of them, filtering it and expelling the water through their gills.

Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is the second biggest aquarium in the world, and the only one to have three whale sharks in a giant tank. This tank also features one of the largest glass panel in the world (22m x 8m, 60cm thick !).
